The Victorian Family of Harleston Builders

Kate Chenneour is a self confessed History geek who has spent the last 20 years delving into the History of Harleston and came across this family  when  researching the history of Harleston Common.  Over the years more information has come to light about  the Pedgrifts; a family who would give the EastEnders Scriptwriters food for thought although by the mid 20th Century they claimed to be the very paragon of respectability from an ancient family!

We're covering the whole family but particularly focussing on John Pedgrift,an outstanding natural athlete, a fraudster, a bullion thief, an ice cream salesman and charmer who left chaos in his wake, at one stage, fleeing from California to Hawaii to escape his debts!
